Waterford News & Star has summarised National Transport Authority complaints from local taxi passengers alleging aggression, overcharging and payment problems.
One complainant said the meter showed €15 before the journey started. They alleged the driver became aggressive, arguing it was his livelihood, and that another passenger got out early because they did not feel safe. The driver then left the car and continued the confrontation after being told he would be reported.
Another customer said a driver announced he did not take cards. A further complaint said the meter was already at €11 on entry and the total paid was €46.20 plus an invoice for €31.80; the NTA issued a fixed-payment notice to the operator. Another passenger said a PayPal payment was claimed as failed, then a SumUp card payment was taken — and both charges later appeared.
These are passenger complaints as reported to the NTA and published locally; they are allegations unless a notice or conviction is stated. The fixed-payment notice is the one confirmed enforcement step named in the piece.
