Neighbours in Southampton’s Townhill Park area are campaigning against plans for a 24-hour taxi headquarters at the former Forest Hills Drive driving test centre.
The Daily Echo reports more than 200 people oppose JSY Travel’s bid for an office and control room, with resident Christine Wilton gathering 200-plus petition signatures in three days. Objectors fear overnight noise, lights and engines. The firm says only a few minibuses/larger vehicles would park overnight — not a rank — and that movements would be fewer than when the DVSA centre operated until April 2022. Staffing would be limited (up to two operatives plus a manager by day, one overnight). Southampton City Council had not set a decision date.
