London black-cab fleets warn of vehicle shortage squeeze

Proprietors say LEVC supply and parts delays risk drivers losing work at the 12-year age limit; LEVC and TfL disagree.

London black-cab fleet owners say they cannot get enough replacement TX vehicles before 12-year age limits force cabs off the road.

MyLondon quotes proprietors claiming LEVC is “drip feeding” new cabs despite orders, with parts waits of two to three months, and citing about 10,000 cabs lost since lockdown while private hire grew. LEVC said it adjusts output to demand and cut 2026 production to prepare for the next-generation cab. TfL also denies a production collapse. The dispute is about supply timing versus TfL’s age caps, not a ban on black cabs.
