Jamaica taxi operator held after rival cabbie run over

Old Harbour police arrested a taxi operator after ‘Shabba’ was allegedly mowed down in a dispute on Gutters Main Road.

Old Harbour police in St Catherine, Jamaica, have arrested a taxi operator after another cabbie was allegedly run over during a dispute.

The Jamaica Gleaner and Jamaica Star report that about 2am on 27 September 2026 a verbal clash developed on Gutters Main Road between a man known as “Shabba”, who plied the Spanish Town–Old Harbour route, and the suspect. Police say the suspect threatened to kill Shabba. Shabba walked onto the roadway and was struck by a car driven by the suspect; it is further alleged the vehicle reversed over him on the ground.

Shabba was taken to Spanish Town Hospital and pronounced dead. The driver later turned himself in at Old Harbour police station, was arrested on suspicion of murder, and remains in custody pending investigation. These are police allegations as reported; no conviction is stated.
