Gwynedd lifts one-mile taxi maximum from £3.60 to £4

First hackney rise since 2022 from 1 October; late-night window 10pm–7am and night uplift cut to +50%.

Gwynedd Council has approved the first hackney maximum-fare rise in four years after operators cited climbing costs.

Cambrian News / Daily Post report the general licensing committee on 21 September agreed a one-mile maximum of £4 (from £3.60) from 1 October 2026, with no objections after statutory consultation. Late-night tariff hours move from midnight start to 10pm–7am, while the night uplift falls from 60% above basic to 50% to align with other councils. Officers linked the package to NI, minimum wage, insurance, licensing and diesel costs. The changes follow June committee approval to consult on trade requests.
