Four generations of Gouldings in London’s black cabs

Dave Goulding, 71, and four sons drive hackneys; grandson Harrison, 19, plans to start the Knowledge.

A London family spanning three generations of black-cab drivers — with a fourth preparing for the Knowledge — has been profiled by London Now.

Dave Goulding, 71, and sons twins Billy and Ronnie (44), David (40) and Harry (38) all drive hackney carriages. Billy’s son Harrison, 19, plans to begin studying the Knowledge. The piece notes licensed driver numbers have fallen and Centre for London previously warned of no black cabs by 2045 with about 16,000 left last year; Goulding expects a “skeleton crew” to remain for tourists and locals.
