East Fife Taxi Association demands Uber objection review

EFTA wrote seeking urgent clarification after 431 submissions were ruled incompetent mid-hearing.

The East Fife Taxi Association has written to Fife Council demanding urgent clarification after 431 objections to Uber’s Rosyth booking-office licence were disregarded.

The Dunfermline Press reports EFTA wants the legal position on electronically submitted objections examined and asked that no delegated determination proceed until clarified. Uber’s solicitor said objections lacked grounds, names/addresses and signatures; council lawyers agreed and the application went through unopposed. EFTA secretary Linda Holt criticised the failure to hear objectors who had been invited to speak. The council has since apologised and begun a process review.
