PR Newswire / MOTOR coverage says nearly 438,000 VINs from public records showed about 27% with open recalls. New York medallion taxis hit 38.6% and Seattle taxis 37.5%; Baltimore taxis were as low as 4.9%, with LA and Boston also below average. CARFAX notes free recall checks and free repairs; fleet group Transportation Alliance stressed not all recalls are equal severity and downtime can block fixes.
