Blackburn taxi-office plan near East Park Road draws fire

Residents and Cllr Patel fear congestion at Shear Brow junction; officers visited site ahead of planning committee.

Plans for a taxi office beside East Park Road / Shear Brow in Blackburn have prompted resident and councillor objections over traffic and safety.

Lancashire Telegraph reports the corner is among the town’s busiest links between Preston New Road, Pleckgate and St James’s Road. Cllr Muntazir Patel says locals are “alarmed” that even a no-public-access base would mean vehicle movements, parking pressure and disruption in a residential area. Residents question why a “taxi base” label is needed for school/college back-office work and say planning must judge the use applied for. Blackburn with Darwen Planning and Highways Committee members visited the site before a Thursday evening hearing open to the public.
