Barrow’s Barra Cabs plans to launch a wheelchair-accessible taxi service in response to customer demand.
The Mail reports the firm says it will be the only taxi platform in Barrow offering the service, available at scheduled times through the week, with operating hours posted on Facebook. Customers needing travel outside those hours are asked to call 01229 833833 or use social media. No launch date was set. DfT figures cited locally put wheelchair-accessible vehicles at 10% of England’s licensed taxis/PHVs as of April 2026 (54% of hackneys vs 2% of PHVs).
