Barnsley night op: two Bradford PHVs suspended for defects

Joint check of 43 vehicles 18 July — Bradford officers act on signage and accident damage.

Two Bradford-licensed private hire drivers and vehicles were suspended during a Barnsley town-centre night enforcement operation.

Reporting cites a report to Barnsley’s Licensing Regulatory Board: on 18 July 2026 officers worked with South Yorkshire Police plus Bradford and Wolverhampton licensing teams, inspecting 43 drivers/vehicles focused on the night-time economy. Bradford officers suspended two of five Bradford PHVs checked over signage and accident-damage breaches. Most Barnsley-licensed vehicles were compliant; one local PHV driver got a written warning for a missing interior plate. Out-of-town licences from Wakefield, Kirklees, Leeds and others were also checked amid trade concerns about cross-border working.
