A55 taxi-theft case adjourned for psychiatric report

Darragh O’Grady, 31, due for sentence after wrong-way A55 run and cyclist crash; judge wants schizophrenia assessment.

Sentencing for the Holyhead taxi theft and wrong-way A55 chase has been adjourned so a psychiatrist can assess Darragh O’Grady.

Daily Post reports the 31-year-old Irishman of no fixed address appeared at Caernarfon Crown Court for causing serious injury by dangerous driving and related motoring offences after taking a taxi, hitting a cyclist and driving the wrong way near Holyhead. Defence counsel sought a report for possible unmedicated schizophrenia; Judge Nicola Jones adjourned to 10 November, calling schizophrenia a “massive mitigating factor.” He also faces aggravated vehicle taking, theft, fraud, no insurance, driving without a licence and failing to provide a specimen, and was remanded in custody.
